Me

Hi! My name is Artur Marques. I am interested in so many subjects, that it is probable that we share some in common!

I am a complete addict to entertainment software! I grew up with a ZX Spectrum and then jumped to a PC. My motivations always were computer games, computer graphics and multimedia! More recently, I became deeply interested in issues of artificial life, with artificial intelligence, yet natural behavior. I also enjoy Economics and I am quite a follower of the main stock markets.

My formal higher studies are:

- degree on Computer Science Engineering / Engenharia Informática e de Computadores, by the Instituto Superior Técnico (IST);
- post-graduation on Computers and Electronics Engineering / Engenharia Electrotécnica e de Computadoresb @ IST;
- MsC on E-Commerce and Internet / Comércio Electrónico e Internet @ UA, with the cooperation of the UShef;
- MsC on Engineering Policy and Management of Technology / Engenharia e Gestão de Tecnologia @ IST.

I am Computer Science teacher at the wonderful ESGS and a contributing editor to the portuguese AUDIO magazine. Back in 2000, I was the CDROM editor for a popular PC magazine.

Among other interests, I do enjoy Books, Music, Cinema, Technology, Astronomy, Biology, Physics, Chemestry, and even some Mathematics!. I also breed a general book library, collect Laserdiscs, DVDs and VHS tapes; I spend all my money on computer stuff, but in the attic you'll find fossiles, from when I studied Biology.

I am a nomad! I regularly travel between Lisbon - the capital of Portugal - Santarém, and Abrantes, the country's centermost city!

Shortly after getting my degree, I made an unsual choice, at least here in Portugal: I decided to only consider non-robotizing jobs, with attractive timetables. I wouldn't feel happy otherwise.
