Title: On the road #01

Date: from December 1999 to March 2000

Story:

I sure don't know what is to drive on some american highways, on rush hour, or on any chinese road... but I don't need those examples to afirm that Lisbon's traffic is a COMPLETE MESS, a total chaos!

Many portuguese face the act of driving, a bit like soldiers face unwanted wars: you'd better be well armed, or else... Roads are dangerous places to be in: everyone is driving just for him / herself, and won't tolerate other people's mistakes. There is plenty of horning, flashing, and even some rude gestures!

People can be obscene. It is easy to watch someone show "the finger" to a perfect stranger, just because that someone judges the other, as a person doing something so depicable, that it leaves no choice.

Driving is stressing, depending on your attitude.

I developed a different attitude. Enjoy the moment. Picture people as they cross the road, under green light; appreciate the beauty of city lights; check how void and how full roads can get... and don't get nervous with accidents.

These pictures were taken on different occasions. On your left, you have what I would call "positive" pictures - they are somewhat calm.

On your right, you have "negative" pictures - accidents, queues and so on.
