No lights?! Soon, the cops will be after you.

There they are! Cops use Hill Street Blues style cars, that tend to crash on your back...

MITSUBISH 2020u versus SAMSUNG SyncMaster 1000p

I've been without a monitor, since 30 November 1999, and that is why the site hasn't been updated since :(

Well, the sadness is over, thanks to the wonderful people @ SOLBI, a huge hardware reseller, who fixed my problem as fast they could.

I am no longer using a 21" SAMSUNG SyncMaster 1000p. My eyes are now staring @ a 22" MITSUBISHI 2020U which is smaller in size, bigger in viewable area, completely flat, and very high tech, using new generation electronics that grants higher lifetime, sharper dot pitch [0.25], and resolutions up to 1800x1440 @ 75 Hz! Impressive on paper and much more impressive live! My desktop runs now @ 1600x1200 @ 85 Hz, which is an enormous step forward from the 1280x1024 area. Really!

The most interesting comparison you can do between the 2020U and the 1000p, is about their flatness. While SAMSUNG refers the 1000p to be a flat screen, the truth is that there still is a slight curvature @ the corners. Instead, the 2020U is really absolutely flat, which is somewhat unusual and might disturb viewers used to regular technology, as the image looks like "diving into" the screen.

In practical terms, the 2020U is healthier, as there are no shadows and indirect lights on screen, and you can you can stretch the image to fit all the available dots, without losing pixels to the corners.

Back to Driver

Today I spent some minutes with Driver. I got stuck @ the "Briefcase" mission, where you have to go visit some hot spots in a time limit. This is a very hard mission: if you scratch your car, hit another car, burn rubber near a cop, or speed when in cops' range, you will be pursued with no mercy! The cops will hit from behind until too much damage breaks your vehicle. and if you do survive to complete the task - as I did - you will have to use the very same car on the next mission, which absolutely cuts every hope you had of completing the challenge! Damn!

Patches

Delta Force 2 patch 1.3.09 [02 December 1999]

SAMSUNG 1000p is a 21" colossus capable of running 1600x1200 @ 85 Hz.

Worst than having one broken light, is having no lights at all :)

The picture doesn't do it justice, but there was quite a car crash, behind...
