Yesterday I was too busy to update the site, but after
some hard working hours, I was rewared with a superb home-theater
session. That session required a pair of DEFINITIVE TECHNOLOGY BP2002 dipolar
speakers with a PAIR of integrated ACTIVE 12" subwoofers... plus a DT
CLR2002 centre speaker and a pair of DT BPX dipolar rear speakers, powered
by the HUGE ACURUS A125x5 and DOLBY DIGITAL decoded via the impressive
ACURUS ACT3 box... everything STRAIGHTwired...
Here is a taste of it... and after that, only in portuguese,
a very angry prostest.
Great DVD! This is a region 1 DVD movie, meaning that you
can't try it in Europe [region 2], unless you have a region 1
player, or unless you have modified a modifiable region
2 player.
I own a PIONEER DV-505... this great piece of hardware really does
the job with 20 bits audio CDs, ie, this player is not "just" compatible
with 20 bits audio, but features true 20 bits DACs!
The PIONEER DV-505 is one the few easilymodifiable DVD
players, **IF** you are lucky to buy certain version of it. In fact,
there once was a version that did NOT need any hardware tweak to work!!
- region changing was possible via the remote control, alone.
If you own a PC and want to view DVDs on it, you can't
escape the region protection, because recent players have it enabled.
For example, the CREATIVE LABS DVD ENCORE is tweakable when you use
the "old" 2x player, but NOT tweakable with the current 5x
machines :-(
A Direcção Geral de Espectáculos (DGE) portuguesa
volta a seguir a política da ABSOLUTA IMBECILIDADE, no que toca a DVDs e
LDs.
Os selos da DGE são colados EM CIMA da ficha técnica
das caixas dos filmes, impossibilitando os consumidores de verificarem se
a obra é widescreen, que línguas e legendagens estão disponíveis,
se há DOLBY DIGITAL, etc... é uma VERGONHA, que só demonstra a ignorância
da entidade, relativamente ao software que tanto exige manipular.
MAIS GRAVE: alguns filmes são ABERTOS e os selos são
colados EM CIMA dos próprios documentos que acompanham o título!, comprometendo-lhe
o valor de colecção!
AINDA MAIS GRAVE: alguns dos filmes ABERTOS são tratados
com uma alarvidade e falta de higiene preocupante. Amanhã vou publicar um
exemplo disso mesmo (Gattaca), em que para lá de um selo inútil e
destruidor, a DGE resolveu deixar IMPRESSÕES DIGITAIS (dedadas porcas).
