Demolition 101 a fine mission!

BUG! Check the 4 swimmers! They are underwater for some 10 minutes now, and won't react to my nice knife. These folks were on the boat that went down after being laser designated. Check below.

Boat going down! Airstrikes are now much more effective, but you should laser designate the targets until being hit.

Delta Force 2, after pach 1.0.10

Delta Force 2 [DF2] is one of the most patched games in recent gaming history. Not that the original release had that many bugs, but more of an effort to speed up the action, that doesn't run @ a decent rate in "older" PC systems, even if 3D accelerated.

DF2's 3D acceleration is only "half supported" for TNT chipsets. In fact, the speed gain when using the TNT support, is almost not noticeable, although there is a clear picture quality improvement.

However, the latest patch also addresses obvious problems with the game's artificial intelligence [AI]. Beware that version 1.0.10 will make the game much harder to complete, meaning that it will probably not attract gamers who prefer an easier path to success. But if it is greater realism you're looking for, then go for the 3351 KB download here or from the patches anchor.

The greater realism translates in enemies that hear, hide and hunt you better than before. For example, in DF2's original release, some soldiers had pre-defined courses, and would not fire at you, while doing the entire course... Now, if you cross yourself in their path, they'll quickly look for a spot to shoot you down.

While the aforementioned problem was obvious, it do not affect gameplay as much as the NEW much higher enemy accuracy. I remember laying down on grass and shooting with a sniper gun, up to a 600 meters distance, without being fired at. It was a real pixel carnificine - you could wipeout most of the field, from that safe spot.

Now, if you are noticed, you can't stand still without the very serious risk of being erased. If it is a small tank that notices you, you can count on continuous fire, until you destroy it, or it wipes you out! Small tanks are your greatest threat.

Operation Common Resolve / mission Demolition 101, is a fine example of all the new stuff you are to encounter in DF2 1.0.10. In this mission, you are to destroy all the enemy vehicles: 2 boats, 1 helicopter, 2 small tanks and some trucks. The tanks should be your priority, no matter what your mates Charlie and Alpha say! Go for the tanks with the laser designator, point it at the targets, always from the opposite site of the river, and do not move the designator until the airstrike happens. If you point @ another target, after requesting an airstrike with the laser device, you can't be sure that the initial target will be hit.

This need to wait until the destruction of the target, gets you more exposed and fragile, meaning that you'd better clear your surroundings, or it is very probable that you won't make it to the end. Don't waste laser designator requests against trucks - they can be blown up, just by dropping a fragmentation grenade to their insides.

Yes, patch 1.0.10 brings DF2 new life, but it doesn't fix all the small [funny] bugs. Take a look @ some of the pictures to understand what I mean.

Unreal Tournament patch 402 - 10 December 1999 [3460 KB]* includes new features!

NVIDIA Detonator 3.62 for GeForce, TNT and TNT2 chipsets [1556 KB]**

3DFX Voodoo2 DX7 BETA drivers [2322 KB]

**NOTE:

NVIDIA is doing a bad job with these latest drivers. GTA2 and Delta Force 2 are not 100% compatible with releases 3.52 and 3.62 of the Detonator reference software :(

Despite being BETA, the latest release of 3DFX V2 drivers, adds DX7 support [DirectX 7 *must* be installed] and grants a very noticeable picture quality gain, with most software! For example, the improvements are obvious with Quake 3 Arena...

Prosty! That is me in multiplayer games!

Demolition 101 mission requires you to blow this helicopter, but you should do it from the other side of the river, using the laser designator device.

Mission accomplished! On the way to Rambo IV! :)
