EZCD4 CD images are faster than ever! The picture refers to a CD image of 650 MB of mp3 files, and it was written in less than 3 minutes!
Writing the CD itself happens in a way that depends on your CDR machine... With my PLEXWRITER 8x, the image required 9 minutes to burn.

Long time ago, when dinosaurs ruled the Earth... no wait... not that long ago... well, in 1994 COREL, now best known because of the hugely popular COREL DRAW package, was the first software house to deliver a user friendly software to write CD-ROMs. That software was COREL CD CREATOR, and its second version was something that feels very much like today's ADAPTEC Easy CD Creator...
In fact, ADAPTEC bought COREL's product and sophisticated it to support most of current CD-Recorders, plus adding it features such as TAO [Track at Once], DAO [Disk at Once] and solving many problems that were not obvious in 1994, but that would affect nowadays' users.
Easy CD Creator is my favorite package for CD authoring. It may not be the best tool for duplication, but even that is discussible...
So, what's new with version 4?
- A new interface [that's good!]
- F2 key doesn't work perfectly for file / folder renaming... [that's bad]
- CD Text is now supported. CD Text is a "new" CD feature that allows, for example, the display of text information, while playing an audio file. That text data may be the track name, the lyrics, and so on. Of course you will need a compatible CD Text player to profit on the novelty. Of course supporting new technologies is always good!
- Better digital audio extraction, with automatic resynchronization of drives that do not spin as they should :) This is good news, for those who enjoy audio duplications, and don't own the finest hardware.
- CD Copier now supports DAO.
Well this looks like a big progress, but the F2 thing does bother me. I was used to just press F2 on a folder to rename it, and now I must secondary-click it, which just breaks my authoring rhythm. Still, of course Easy CD Creator remains my package of election.
