The Simpsons (and football) [vomit]

I hate football. I like to play it myself, but I simply HATE everything that is professionally related with it. I simply don't accept the wages players get, the stupid attention the "sport" gets from most media, the collective behavior of most fans (violent monkeys!), the absurd frequency of comments on the most ridiculous and uninteresting issues ("famous Joe broke a nail yesterday - it is not known if he can play for the next 10 years") and - honest - even the word "football" brings me vomits [vomiting].

Football is a disgrace. It has become kind of a political instrument that works as a people's anesthetic (people with no live, can live and dream on football gossip, such is the amount available), and - this is the worst - football costs a very high price, not only to all other sports, but to all time-occupation alternatives.

The Simpsons, episode #5F01, pictures modern football PERFECTLY: corrupt, boring and prone to violence.

Episode #5F01 is about a Portugal vs Mexico foot match, at Springfield. Homer is in for Portugal (check this video), and the entire city is expecting a decent meeting... that will turn out to be so slow that the spectators revolted and destroyed everything on their path, from the stadium to Springfield's downtown.

In fact, the whole city BURNED to flames, that day (but it was to be reconstructed in time for episode #5F02 :))

Of course Matt Groening wouldn't produce a Simpsons episode entirely dedicated to football, and the true story of #5F01 is Homer buying a gun to protect his family... This gun will cause great problems...
