This is me! At least, as seen by Bárbara Alves, aged 8, my girlfriend's cousin. I can't understand the mustache, since I am far from being that hairy :)
3dfxgamers is not just about 3DFX hardware. In fact, this website regularly runs interviews with programmers and other well informed personalities, trying to bring light to a scene where rumors are becoming dominant. |
Portraits of mine, by Barbara and Franciso One of these days, while attending a wedding, Barbara and Francisco, aged 8 and 7, respectively, decided to picture me on the invitation paper... Here are theirs masterpieces. I found these drawings so great, that I decided to use them on the about me page, where the captions are in portuguese language. I recently posted a question on the 3dfxgamers.com forum, regarding a doubt I have on using two Voodoo graphics cards on the same system. Since then, I have reached my own personal conclusions on the matter, which you can check on my 200700 update, and where you can find that my opinions differ from the ones expressed on the replies I got ['till 200700]. You can always check the current replies from this direct link to the thread. Here is my post: -- starts -- I am running Windows 2000 with a V5500 AGP as the primary graphics card AND a V3000 PCI as the secondary one. This dual config comes from the days I used a CL GeForce DDR as the AGP card but felt the need to run Glide software :) Recently, I upgraded my system to dual P3 @ 733 and the board (Tyan S1834) doesn't like NVIDIA stuff: w2k and w9x don't boot at all (this includes safe mode) with any kind of GeForce hw installed... That is why I bought the V5500. The system is running perfectly, but when I upgrade any of the Voodoos' drivers, I (naturally) get messages about overwriting files that both drivers use. Until now, I always kept the newer files. What I ask is: am I losing performance on the V5500, by having the V3000 installed? GP3 performance is crappy! I now use the V3000 for dual monitor displaying. Both cards share IRQ 16 (check sys config below), but both work 100% ok with all my hw and sw. The only thing I really dislike is performance with GP3! All my other (many) games run super, free from the issues that NVIDIA raised! I also read that 3DFX drivers "are not multi-processor enabled"... can anyone technically comment this? Please try to answer me. Thank you. My system: OS: Windows 2000 Pro board: Tyan S1834 processors: 2 x P3 @ 733 (FSB 133) memory: 1 GB RAM (4 x 256 MB DIMMs) cases: Enlight Tower Dual 300 Watts + Enlight for 8 SCSI devices Primary graphics: Voodoo 55500 AGP Secondary graphics: Voodoo 3000 PCI SCSI: Adaptec 2940 U2W Sound: CL Platinum SB Live! LAN: 2 x Adaptec Duralan PCI 32 bits TV: Pinnacle Studio PCTV Pro HDs: 2 x Maxtor 40 GB @ 7200 rpm + 2 x Maxtor 60 GB + 1 x WD UWSCSI 18.3 GB 10k rpm + 1 x Quantum Fireball 8.4 GB = ~ 230 GB CDROMs: Plextor Ultraplex 40max + Plextor Plexwriter 12/4/32 -- ends -- |
Carla, my gf, is on the left; I am on the right... The portrait's author is Francisco Alves, aged 7, and many questions arise: why do I have elephant's ears? Why do I have chicken's wings?
3dfxgamers has cool message boards for 3DFX stuff. That is where I posted my question. |
