1 - Suggestions for the week ; 2 - North vs South / Mugabe (part 2)

Ryuichi Sakamoto is a producer / composer / singer / performer of electronic music. Heart Beat is just superb!

Mandy Moore is just another face of the yeah yeah yeah scene that MTV sells every hour, these days.

Introduction to Flight - mandatory for those who enjoy flight simulators.

Zanu-PF, Robert Mugabe's party is fighting for the election. Or should I write, killing for the election?

Not only farms are being destroyed but their legitimate owners are being killed! There is something very wrong going in Zimbabwe...

Suggestions for the week

A special week is coming, so, in order to rebuild my Entertainment page, here are some listening & reading advises, that will probably require more time than the average 48 hours that run from late friday to early monday :)

The last time I wrote some suggestions, some of you contacted me, confessing it was hard to buy Ultramarine... Well, blame it on disgusting MTV, once a voice for great music, now a complete crap... In fact, I forced myself to some 30 minutes of the [european] self-titled music television, and could literally feel the brainwash. They are broadcasting subliminal messages that say "great music is about singing yeah yeah yeah [repeat infinite times]"...

When MTV is not selling the yeah yeah yeah bull, they are selling cars, even if you don't notice it! TRUE! And some times, they are broadcasting both craps at the same time, which absolutely assures you a considerable loss of self respect.

As an example of the extreme situation aforementioned, check the pictures taken from the Mandy Moore video Candy / So Real. This girl is all about yeah yeah yeah, with Volkswagens on the background... Gosh! I feel sick! No energy, no lyrics, no nothing but bull and small tits.

This week, for listening, why don't you try relaxing, with heterogeneous stuff? I advise two opposite genders: the electronic music of Ryuichi Sakamoto, and the folk of early Neil Young.

Authoring on very different arenas, Sakamoto [born 1952] and Young [born 1945] are examples of originality. After all these years they are still kicking and showing the way to many people. In recent years, I might rise Kurt Cobain the their level, but right now, I just don't remember more peers.

Now, about books, I just couldn't resist buying Economics of Strategy (David Besanko / David Dranove / Mark Shanley) and Introduction to Flight (John Anderson)... Of course I shouldn't be reading these hundreds of pages right now, with better and much more important subjects on my hands, but this is just the way I am: I can't resist the forbidden, and tend to push myself to uncomfortable situations...

Economics of Strategy has got to be the best case illustrated book I have ever browsed. There are so many real life cases of strategies, that you feel like you are reading about history, rather than mathematical sound Economics. To be honest, it was precisely this approach that made me buy it :)

Introduction to Flight is something that, I guess, no flight simulator player can resist. If you don't know jack about engineering, you can still profit from the first chapters, who teach nothing more than the history and basics of flight. But after this soft landing, the author ramps to hardcore mathematics, that prevent the book of being enjoyed like a romance.

I strongly recommend these books, and I will sell both, via amazon, as soon as a special deal of other 1500 titles [!!] is finished... You just wait.

North vs South / Mugabe (2)

Africa as seen all forms of racism, and the World would like to think that such phenomena are something of the past, with great lessons learned from the south african case. But humans seem not to learn from their mistakes... we have got to be the dumbest species on the Planet!

Zimbabwe is nowadays a sad example of intolerance and short term politics. Robert Mugabe, the president, is on the forefront of sad sentences, that go against his own country's law, and that appeal to acts of racism against the white community, that owns big farms.

The caucasians are citizens of Zimbabwe, just like other citizens, yet they are not being protected by the police, and they are being attacked by former soldiers, that see themselves as having the right to occupy their lands... destroy their houses... and even kill their families!

This is a terrible situation, that is disturbing the relations of Zimbabwe with the United Kingdom. Let's hope Mugabe to recover the political tact that he had in so many other episodes, for the sake of higher relations, like the whole North - South stability.

The North - South division is deeper than ever, and many governments are questioning of what use is to help the South! This is a strong and dangerous question.

For example, in the late 1980s, there was the first severe famine situation at Ethiopia, and the whole North mobilized to help the africans - it was the Live Aid project. Now, not that many years later, Ethiopia is worst than it ever was, because the country not only did nothing to control its population growth, but also declared war to to Eritrea! Money is spent on war, rather than on solving dramatic issues.

Thus, we have not seen a second Live Aid.

Some ask: is it really worth helping all those millions of starving people? Or will it just be another post-pone of a disaster that must happen, given their culture and resources?

These questions shouldn't arise. This violence shouldn't be happening.

Neil Young is another rock, that stands firmly against all brain washers.

Mandy Moore not only sings like a toad, but she also tries to sell you the new Beetle, from VW. What next? Drinking Nescafe while dancing?!

Economics of Strategy - for plenty of case studies.
