1 - Soldier of Fortune @ Japan (PC Game)

The NY episode may have plenty of tattooed bimbos, but at Japan enemies are by the hundreds!

It smells like Japan, right? Yep.

Dekker is really, really cruel - here he is, seconds prior to do what shows in the right upper corner of this page...

Soldier of Fortune @ Japan (PC Game)

"The access to SUNI is 86-75-309". This is how your second japanese SoF (Soldier of Fortune) mission will begin, minutes after a blood bath, against some six baddies. A terrified man will tell you the code, but it won't be easy to understand what to do with it... At least I still didn't find where and how to type it.

Soldier of Fortune was first reviewed here on 081000, but back then I was at Iraq, not at Japan. The path to Japan holds many surprises. The SoF story gets so interesting that the game greatly cements its already superb narrative score...

I'll be a bit of spoiler this time: your mate Hawk will die, by the end of your adventures at Sudan. Dekker, the most frightening criminal on SoF, will kill him... Dekker will also kill many innocent hostages, on his pursuit for the remaining nuke: "Jessica Six".

I wrote "blood bath" about the JAP2 mission, but the expression fits better the last of the Sudanese outings. The Sudan episodes are a brilliant adventure, set on african colors: your adversaries are black people, working on a complex that includes a farm and a slaughterhouse. It is somewhat disturbing to climb the asphyxiating narrow stairs of the small houses, fearing a close encounter with someone armed with a close range weapon.

In Sudan, everyone carries those powerful "hand cannons" that will easily blast legs and arms, or your entire vest, if you are wearing one. Sudan is a dangerous place to be, where humans won't be alone on death - there are hundreds of cows being "processed" at the Slaughterhouse! I wonder if SoF is being sold in India...

Your last Sudanese steps (and Hawk's absolute final) will take you deep inside the Slaughterhouse's sewers, where it literally rains blood! Yuck! Cow blood and cow pieces! Quite a novelty in what comes to interactive horror.

Sudan is different, but New York was harder, so you won't have much trouble dealing with it.

Japan is a very different thing. I have been having a hard time at Japan, since bullet #1! By the end of JAP1, you'll face such a plague of criminals that, you probably won't have enough ammo to kill them all! Your only hope is to reach for the elevator on time!

So I am stuck in JAP2, where I found a cool new energy weapon, but where I don't know what to do with the SUNI code... Nevertheless, SoF is to be completed on November 2000. The end is near.

If you want to play where I am, go ahead and download my current savegame [107 KB, on ZIP], then unzip it to your user\save folder. Enjoy!

...Dekker must go down... now you can understand it. This hostage was shot, because she was supposed to know about "Jessica Six".

A new high tech weapon debuts at Japan. Don't get it - it isn't that effective.

The sniper riffle is always a good choice.
