1 - Back to NOLF (No One Lives Forever)

NOLF - Baron Dumas. Is he the "Man of Influence"? You'll end up suspecting NOT.

Dumas - Plenty of armed man and a (singular) dog.

The butler - In order to get to interview the Baron, you'll have to pass him.

Back to NOLF

I had quite a hard time, getting out of the sinking boat, on NOLF. The problem was that I didn't have defined a control for switching an object's function... So the cigarette lighter couldn't be switched to a soldering iron :). Those of you who play the game, know that without a soldering iron, the door of the room where they locked you, can't be opened and you can't progress. So, I was slow to understand what was wrong...

"Man of Influence" (parts 1, 2 and 3), was the mission that I first ran on my new hardware, based on the ASUS CUV4X-DLS motherboard (check update 220501). This mission is not as interesting as some of the previous ones, that got you under the sea, fighting against scubas and sharks; and on the air, falling to ground, with no parachute at all...

After the ups & downs of such diverse adventures, "Man of Influence" (MoI) sets you on ground... but be warned because the mission that follows gets you high again, although not exactly as you might expect, or as it might read...

Some words on MoI:

#1) did you try to board the train inside the Dumas factory? If you didn't, do it now and have a good laugh! The train travels from Paris / France to Poland / Warsaw, to Kenya / Nairobi and finally to Bangkok / Thailand... Quite stupid and unexpected - yet another of the constant NOLF jokes. Of course that it is a fake travel, because seconds later, you're back to Dumas'.

#2) this is the mission where your glasses will be most important: use them to take photographs of ALL the books with portraits.

#3) MoI's part 3 is played with no guns, no glasses, no nothing. It just a matter of asking the RIGHT questions to Baron Dumas, in order to find out how implicated he is with the illicit activities that the secret services have been investigating. The problem is not Dumas himself, but the butler. Just make sure you don't mention the word "business" when trying to convince the butler to get you to speak with the baron.

This is another episode that will get you laughing: A) the Baron hunts tigers with less than .22 caliber guns; B) the Baron isn't afraid of nothing, except for: centipedes, spiders and so on... (needs a context...); C) the Baron hunts "man eating" gorillas of Bristol / England... You get the point: the Baron can't be the brain behind the crimes.

I've been playing the game with beta patch #2, but be warned that beta patch #3 will be out this month.

The interview - happens based on the regular NOLF multi-choice dialogs.

Photograph - anything that looks suspicious.

Major Armstrong - makes a mysterious appearance, by the end of MoI's part 2.
