1 - Lisbon Zoo (Canon PRO90is Digital Expo #02)

Watching - some hundreds of weird bipeds.

Wondering - how's outside...

Lisbon Zoo (Canon PRO90is Digital Expo)

Any Zoo is a place of contradictions. If you love wild life, you can't avoid felling sorrow for the trapped animals, forced to an existence that goes against every neuron of their free brains. While most primitive life forms, like reptiles, are wired to strictly reactive attitudes fueled by the urge to eat and to reproduce - incapable of higher reasoning - should appreciate the zoo "lifestyle", other creatures, like the chimpanzees, have the intelligence of human preschoolers, and the sense of "self"... translating that they understand the wider space outside their cages. Its quite a drama to watch a chimp on a cage.

But Zoos are (probably) also your only choice to be close to animals, not cats and dogs. And some even contribute to species preservation and / or recovery...

Lisbon has a nice Zoo, except for the higher primates' cages, which are ridiculously small and offensively named "palace of the chimpanzees". I visited the place this Summer, and tested my Canon PRO90is, on everything that moved. Here is a selection of the hundreds of shots I took.

Checking - the windows...

Horny - and sleepy.
