1 - MP3 #4 - Frank Sinatra (*the voice* available for download)

Duets - The "old" Sinatra bringing shame to most of the duettees. Bono Vox (U2) sounds like a WW1 short wave radio, compared to Sinatra...

The early Sinatra - which you can buy for very friendly prices, these days.

MP3 #4 - Frank Sinatra

Frank Sinatra. Frank Sinatra (FS). Repeat the name. It has a kind of strength... FS is dead, since 1998, but his songs, his name, and the many stories told about him - some true - will remain alive, forever.

What FS had special was, of course, his voice. A voice that *can* turn the most banal song into something unique and artful. If you have the slightest doubt about it, why don't you listen to "Summer Wind" (SW)? I confess that even the SW version that he recorded just 5 years prior to his death, is something that gets me hot, that makes me smell the Summer pollens, makes me tick a bit faster, and makes me dream a bit wilder.

The aforementioned version of the SW, is the one whose first minute I am making available on MP3. This song was recorded for the "Duets" album, after Frank's 10 years pause... This time, the duet is with Julio Iglesias, who is NOT the crudest of the duettees, although the single minute availed on MP3, almost spares you to his scandalous difference to Sinatra.

"Duets" is an album that I strongly recommend, not because it is superb all the way, but because it is very *strange*. Some of the laughable duets are the ones featuring high profile pop singers, like Bono (U2) whose voice really does NOT fit the delicacy Sinatra's songs demand. Again, the problem is that the "old" Sinatra was still FAR more appropriate (better, in absolute terms) than any of the duettees... with the eventual exception of Tony Bennett.

The other MP3 I am proposing you is the first minute of "Got You Under My Skin", ripped from the album "Sinatra 80th: All the Best", when *the voice* was much younger. Ah! I bet you'll remember some very romantic moments. Sinatra rules!

If you have any legal issue with these 59 seconds long MP3 @ 128kbps files, just e-mail me, and I'll remove them from the site, as soon as I read the message. I don't intend to harm any business, and I believe that no harm comes from less than 1MB of MP3 data. Thank you.

The purpose of these very short MP3 files is just to share my musical likes, hoping that the selected performers and their albums will also deserve your preferences and support.

More MP3 on days 210401, 190301 and 220101.
