Very emotional South African achievement, telling the story of a “nobody”, living on a very poor home, having no job, no known parents, no known relatives, no true friends, and no relevant skills, except for being familiarised with violence – which is handy on his social context…

There is no obvious moral lesson, and that is one fresh element. The first scenes present Tsotsi – the emotionless gangster. As the film evolves, the viewer gets to meet David, the same person, not so terrorising after all, much thanks to a newborn baby…
