Caché (2005)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0387898/
I read on this movie’s poster “like Hitchcock, only creepier”… the thing is that I found nothing “creepy” on Caché… and while “creepy” is very subjective, stating “like Hitchcock” should be more tangible, like being possible to identify similar plots on Hitchcock’s. Not that I know a lot about Alfred’s work, but I can’t recall a film (of his) where the mystery stagnates to the point of completely unresolved, from moment #1.
So, it is very frustrating to see Caché end, without a resolution of the main plot: a French couple receiving VHS tapes of themselves. Who sends the tapes is the mystery. I didn’t find the answer, and that was ok until the ending credits: I think that ending the movie like it ends, is really “crappy” – not “creepy”.
Other than the conclusion, everything else is superbly achieved.
My rating: 6/10
